(AV17) Gallery to showcase at exclusive art fair “NADA Villa Warsaw”
Contemporary sculpture, object, and installation-focused (AV17) Gallery has been invited to participate in the international art fair “NADA Villa Warsaw”, which will be held from 15 to 19 May at Willa Gawrońskich in Warsaw. At the fair, (AV17) Gallery will showcase the works of the eminent Lithuanian sculptors – Nerijus Erminas and Andrius Erminas.
The project is organised by the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA), a dynamic non-profit organisation founded in 2002 in New York, dedicated to the development and promotion of international contemporary art. Over the years, NADA has connected galleries, independent art spaces, and art professionals, creating an international platform for artistic exchange, innovation, and collaboration.
Having previously organised fairs in New York and Miami, NADA is now hosting an art fair in Warsaw. “NADA Villa Warsaw” marks the first event of its kind in Europe to be held in the exclusive neo-baroque Willa Gawrońskich in Warsaw. The organisers of Villa Warsaw have shortlisted 44 exhibitors from 27 cities across three continents, showcasing a variety of contemporary artists and organisations, with (AV17) Gallery being the sole representative of the Lithuanian contemporary art scene.
(AV17) Gallery, one of the few galleries in Lithuania specialising in contemporary object, sculpture, and installation art, collaborates with renowned conceptual sculpture artists to represent their work internationally, thereby promoting broader awareness of Lithuanian artists abroad. Since 2016, the gallery has successfully presented Lithuanian artists at art fairs such as “Positions” in Berlin, “VOLTA” in New York and Basel, “art Karlsruhe” in Germany, “Art Verona” in Italy, and others.
At the “NADA Villa Warsaw” art fair, (AV17) Gallery will present the works of acclaimed sculptors Nerijus Erminas and Andrius Erminas, who are actively showcasing their works both in Lithuania and internationally. The sculptural objects on display at the fair will create a symbolic dialogue between the works of these renowned Lithuanian sculptors.
Nerijus Erminas is one of the most notable Lithuanian conceptual sculptors. His works are characterised by a sensitive transformation of reality into surreal and subconscious experiences. The narratives behind Erminas’ work evolve through both the observation and analysis of everyday rituals and the interpretation of cultural and political contexts, history, religion, and the expression of personal and collective experiences. The artist employs his sensitive compositions to explore universally relevant and familiar themes, focusing on the emotional experience.
Andrius Erminas is a sculptor, object, and installation artist, well-known for his sensitive and associative sculpture objects and installations. Among the most important creative principles he employs are the use of references, construction of imaginative narratives, and transformation of old, easily recognisable everyday objects and materials into new symbolic sculptural pieces. His works often explore interpersonal, existential themes and reflect on dialectical opposites such as life and death, culture and nature, tradition, and modernity.
The art fair “NADA Villa Warsaw” will take place at Willa Gawrońskich, Al. Ujazdowskie 23, Warsaw, from 15 to 19 May.
