Nerijus Erminas is a conceptual sculptor. His works are characterised by a sensitive transformation of reality into surreal and subconscious experiences. The narratives behind Erminas’ work evolve through both the observation and analysis of everyday rituals and the interpretation of cultural and political contexts, history, religion, and the expression of personal and collective experiences. The artist employs his sensitive compositions to explore universally relevant and familiar themes, focusing on the emotional experience. In the exhibition spaces, Nerijus Erminas creates a surreal atmosphere by scenographically combining independent objects: sculptures, installations, drawings, and other works and engaging the viewer in a never-ending game of meaning.

In the solo exhibition “Vox Dei” (Voice of God), Nerijus Erminas presented his latest works – objects and sculptural installations that explore the themes of the sacred and the secular. These eternal and universally relevant themes, which have been discussed since time immemorial in various spheres – religions, philosophical treatises, literature – are expressed in this exhibition through architectural elements. The sacred was conveyed through material means, reflecting human efforts to create a divine abode on earth in a decorative manner and to experience spiritual elevation. The heavenly is juxtaposed with the domestic, revealed through deconstructed attributes of everyday life, conveying the associative details that allow a sense of contentment on earth. The artist’s installations visually illustrate the relationship between the divine and the mundane, the constant balancing act between the temporary and the anticipated eternity. Even in a private, relaxing environment, there is a sense of being constantly observed by something invisible and supernatural. In the exhibition, Nerijus Erminas created an atmosphere where the viewer was able to immerse themselves in philosophical reflections that never lose their relevance, experiencing them in a contemporary context.
