The 9th edition of festival ‘Zemlika’ has taken place in the smallest town of Latvia – Durbe.  The festival presented a wide range of live performances by musicians and collectives from all around the World, workshops led by artists and musicians, lectures and open panel discussions on subjects touching upon various arts and music. ‘Zemlika’ presented such artists as Kaspars Podnieks, Liepaja New Media School (Minus Eight, Anna Meldraja), Ieva Saulite & Co, Atis Jakobsons and Zile Liepina who represent Latvia in many significant contemporary art exhibitions.

It was a third time the (AV17) Gallery participates in the festival. That year a group exhibition entitled ‘Infusion’ of eight Lithuanian artists was presented, including works of Nerijus Erminas, Jonas Aničas, Marija Šnipaitė, Rafal Piesliak, Tauras Kensminas, Algis Kasparavičius, Rimantas Milkintas and Marius Skudžinskas. This sculpture, object and installation exhibition displays artworks with different types of medium and concept in order to introduce the variety of sculptural object forms by diverse contemporary Lithuanian artists. Some of them represented the young generation, who had just graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts as Tauras Kensminas and Jonas Aničas. Some as Rimantas Milkintas, Algis Kasparavičius and Nerijus Erminas are well known creators, renowned in Lithuania and abroad.

The artists are connected by conceptual form of art and are always in the search of new ways of expression. ‘Infusion’ includes various topics starting from today’s social and cultural contexts to subjective, interhuman connections or formal aspects of the artwork as the construction of sculptural form and volume. The exposition is inviting the viewer to experience the works aesthetically and discuss about the tendencies of contemporary Lithuanian sculpture as well as the variety of object’s possibilities.
