Sculptor and installation artist whose work is distinguished by a combination of characteristic minimalist aesthetics and kinetic plasticity. Due to focus on the significant form of a work of art and its material properties, creations of the artist are often compared to those of Lithuanian and foreign classics of modernism. However, in continuing the tradition of modern sculpture, especially minimalist aesthetics, Milkintas also successfully develops strategies of postmodern art and the language of conceptualism. Deliberate revelation of structures and creation of the effect of apparent motion in the space allow the viewer to easily recognise the touch of Milkintas. In his sculpture compositions characterised by the tension between polarities, the artist juxtaposes physical properties of volumes such as flexibility, sturdiness, softness or fragility with individual experience, and often expresses the meaning behind his work through materials.
